"Look Up" at Loines Observatory

Join our astronomers for an inspiring guided tour of the Nantucket night sky!  MMA staff will guide you in viewing astronomical objects through our historic 8-inch Alvan Clark refractor and our modern 24-inch research telescope.

Get a chance to view the Moon, planets, star clusters, nebulae, and even other galaxies!  Bring your curiosity and get all your astronomy questions answered!  This interactive, community-focused stargazing program is ideal for students, educators, and families—especially young adults and K–12 learners curious about astronomy and the wonders above Nantucket.  Please see our calendar for days and times. 

Location: Maria Mitchell Association’s Loines Observatory, 59 Milk Street Extension
Time: Program begins promptly at the scheduled event time
Registration: Required in advance
Cost: Free for Nantucket Island residents; $10 for non-residents
