Position: Staff Maker
Location: 8 Washington Ave
Season: Memorial Day – Labor Day
Schedule: 5 days per week (10-5) with 2 consistent days off per week
Compensation: $25-30/hour,

Overview
Makers are responsible for executing high-quality, unique chainstitch and embroidery services while serving as the primary point of contact for embroidery-related customer interactions. This role blends craftsmanship with hospitality and can extend to other unique Makery activations like screenprinting. You are not only producing creative work, but consulting with customers, managing intake and order flow, and ensuring a seamless customization experience. At least one additional staff member will always be onsite to support customer flow, checkout, and operations.

Core Responsibilities
1. Embroidery Production
  • Execute custom standard and chainstitch embroidery accurately and efficiently
  • Maintain machine performance and daily setup/cleanup
  • Monitor thread inventory and supply needs
  • Ensure quality control standards are met
2. Order Intake & Management
  • Consult with customers on placement, font, sizing, and design decisions
  • Enter and manage orders clearly and accurately
  • Organize and prioritize workflow based on pickup times
  • Communicate proactively with customers regarding timing or issues
3. Customer Service & Problem Resolution
  • Handle embroidery-related concerns professionally
  • Offer thoughtful solutions when errors or complications arise
  • Protect the For Now / Makery brand through positive customer experiences
 
4. Floor & Team Support
  • Assist with checkout as needed
  • Support minor operational needs during slower embroidery windows
  • Collaborate with The Makery team members to maintain a clean, inspiring space
5. Offsite Events & Brand Activations
From time to time, The Makery and For Now may participate in offsite embroidery events, pop-ups, hotel activations, or brand collaborations. These will be additional and separate pay dependent on each client and will be communicated in writing before each event.
When engaged for an event, responsibilities may include:
  • Collaborating on and designing a streamlined embroidery menu specific to the event
  • Preparing embroidery files and machine settings in advance
  • Gathering and organizing all required supplies, threads, stabilizers, and equipment
  • Transporting and setting up equipment onsite
  • Executing high-quality embroidery efficiently within event time constraints
  • Maintaining a polished and professional brand presence
  • Coordinating breakdown and post-event inventory reconciliation
