Friends of Nantucket Public Schools was founded in the early 1980s by Charron “Corky” Ranney, a mother of five Nantucket public school students. After moving to the island, Corky quickly recognized the need for greater parent involvement and stronger community support for the local schools.
More than 40 years later, our organization remains committed to meeting the evolving needs of students, parents, and teachers.
Today, Nantucket Public Schools serve a diverse student body. With these realities come unique challenges that we are dedicated to helping address. At Friends, we believe today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders. Our mission is to enrich every student’s educational journey by fostering family engagement, supporting school initiatives, and building a strong, connected partnership between school and community.
