The Nantucket Shellfish Association is a registered 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization having as its mission: ''...the encouragement of research and education for the conservation and enhancement of the populations of bay scallops, mussels, soft-shell clams, quahogs, oysters, whelk and conch in the waters of the Nantucket Islands, and to assure prudent commercial and recreational harvesting of shellfish in support of a diversified economic base for the Nantucket community.
